A 46-year-old South African woman, Shamieda Rania, with no fixed address, was arrested at Dublin Airport on Friday, December 8, 2023, reports The Mirror.
She was taken into custody on suspicion of smuggling people into, through or within the state, under section six of the Criminal Justice (Smuggling of Persons) Act.
Detective Karen Barker of the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) arrested Ms. Rania at Terminal 1 at 10.45am, reports The Mirror.
She was detained under Section Four of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a north Dublin Garda station.
On Saturday, she appeared before Judge Monika Leech at the Dublin District Court and was remanded in custody, reports The Mirror.
