In response to media allegations that eight individuals discovered in a shipping container at Rosslare Europort on Monday are no longer receiving State benefits, the Department of Justice has released a statement, reports RTE.
The eight were among the fourteen individuals discovered concealed under a chilled container on a vessel that departed from Zeebrugge, Belgium, four days prior.
After receiving medical examinations, they were taken to a Dublin reception centre to be processed, reports RTE.
The subject of a Garda investigation is human trafficking.
In response to inquiries regarding the alleged disappearance of eight of them, the Department of Justice stated last night that it could not comment on specific cases.
It did, however, provide that no one was compelled to stay in State housing when it was offered in such situations, reports RTE.
