The Minister for Health Simon Harris has said that an external independent review must take place into the HSE’s recent CervicalCheck IT Glitch issue.
According to RTÉ News, Minister Harris said that the incident was regrettable and that the women and families of those affected deserve an explanation.
The Health Minister’s comments comes after it was revealed last week that 800 women who went for a smear test didn’t receive their test results due to an It issue at a US laboratory.
Although the women affected to recieve their test results this week, Harris said the issue was unacceptable and the women involved need reassurances.
It is expected that the external review will be completed in the coming weeks and a full report is set to be published on August 2nd.
