Irelands-Prime-Minister-B-007

Former Fianna Fail party leader and Taoiseach Brian Cowen has defended his actions whilst he was in government, stating that the best decisions were made to prevent the banks and the economy from crashing.

Mr Cowen however did admit that many mistakes were made by the party when they were last in Government but claimed that they gave it their best shot with the information they had at the time. Mr Cowen made his comments whilst he was speaking in Killarney, the former Taoiseach also said he was looking forward to appearing at the Banking Inquiry soon were he will give his testimony.

Mr Cowen claimed that it was not a question of overruling Mr Lenihan but rather a mutual decision was made to take the best decision based on the information available.
