Gardai in Co Waterford have confirmed that the remains of a person has been discovered yesterday evening.
It s understood that the remains were discovered at approximately 5.15pm yesterday evening when a member of the public alerted emergency services when they spotted the remains in the water at Granny in Ferrybank. The Coast Guard helicopter were called to assist in the recovery of the remains.
Gardai say the remains have been transferred to Waterford University Hospital Mortuary where a post mortem will take place later today. It is not yet known if the remains is that of a man or a woman.
