A female prison Mountjoy officer has received medical treatment in hospital after she was stabbed during a fracas in the prison.
It’s understood that a fight broke out between at least 10 prisoners with the female officer on duty at the time. She tried to intervene and was stabbed with a makeshift knife during the altercation.
It’s understood that her injuries were not life threatening but needed to be treated in hospital where she was later released.
An investigation has been opened into how the fight broke out.
