RTE ignores migrant plantation protests but launches new focus on stories of alleged Irish racism against migrants #IrelandisFull

RTE have diligently managed to avoid covering in any depth or detail the countless grassroots resistance movements that have sprung up against the migrant plantations across the Dublin and Ireland as a whole but have now put out a message on their social media platforms instead looking to hear from members of the public about their personal experiences of alleged racism.

Social media users have claimed there is little doubt that the national broadcaster will be looking to hear stories in which indigenous Irish are portrayed as the aggressor and instances of racial abuse and aggression directed at Irish people, such as a the recent incident on an Irish rail train, will be of little interest.

It is a testament to the dedication to defend the establishment narrative and government agenda that RTE have not managed to interview in-depth a single protester organiser despite the anti-plantation sentiment sweeping the country.

Social media users on the ‘Upfront with Kate Hannon’ twitter page have been quick to point out the hypocrisy and narrative shaping of RTE with one person tweeter user ‘NPHETAREDONE’ replying the following to the announcement

“Does being Irish and denied the following count as racism? Asking for thousands in similar position.
– No access to housing
– Denied medical card while refugees auto get one.
– Intimidated on public transport by unvetted males
– Labeled for being worried about my kids safety”

It is unlikely Kate Hannon or anyone from RTE will challenge any of these assertions of double standards or agenda driven reporting but this may only help to further discredit the national broadcaster in the eyes of the public.
