Fears grow Afghan native convicted of rape in Canada could be deported back to Ireland




An Afghan migrant who was convicted of raping a woman in Vancouver, Canada may be deported to Ireland once he serves his 21-month prison sentence for the 2019 attack.

Alifaisal Azim (30) is originally from Afghanistan but came to Ireland as a child with his family seeking asylum. After obtaining a degree in computer science in Ireland, Azim relocated to Canada on a two-year work permit.

However, following his conviction for rape of his housemate, whom he preyed on while she was intoxicated the presiding Judge in the case, Justice Basran ruled: “As a consequence of his criminal conviction in this matter, Mr Azim is inadmissible to Canada.

“He will likely be deported back to Ireland after serving his sentence.”, reports MSN.
