People are advised to take extra care this morning as very heavy rain over the past 48 hours has made many parts of the country treacherous or impassable.
Flash flooding has been reported in Louth, Dublin, Wicklow, Cork and parts of Tipperary, Meath, Limerick and Waterford.
Rainfall continues today but is expected to gradually ease off and clear in most areas by tomorrow.
Motorists are especially advised to drive carefully this morning and expect the roads to have deceptively dangerous areas or deep lying water.
