The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar will officially begin his three day trade mission in Canada today.
Mr Varadkar who will attend a number of events including the Montreal pride parade on Monday, will meet his Canadian counterpart Justin Trudeau later today to officially kick off his mission in the hope to build stronger links between the two countries.
Speaking about the upcoming visit, Mr Varadkar said: “The CETA trade deal between Canada and the EU comes into effect on a provisional basis in September and so it is timely for me to visit Canada to meet with Prime Minister Trudeau and deepen the important bilateral relationship between our countries.”
The Taoiseach’s trip comes in a week when he said it is more important than ever that Ireland builds more relationships with other countries in the wake of Brexit.
