Police in the US have charged a man aged in 20s with murder after the body of a champion golfer was found on a golf course.
The arrest was made after the champion golfer Celia Barquin Arozamena, 22, was found dead with a number of stab wounds at Coldwater Golf Links in Ames, Iowa on Tuesday.
It is understood Ms Arozamena was found with a number of stab wounds at approximately 10:20am.
Police investigating the murder say 22-year-old Collin Daniel Richards, has been arrested and charged with her murder.
According to reports in the US, Richards who had been living in a tent a short distance from the course was intent on committing a serious crime after he had told an acquaintance that he had the urge to rape and kill a woman.
Ms Arozamena who was originally from San Miguel, Spain, was the Iowa State female athlete of the year and was finishing a civil engineering degree.
