Social Welfare recipients will be given a boost following today’s Budget as the Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe confirmed that there will be a €5 weekly increase from next March.
The move which follows on from last year, will see those a number on benefits receive an extra €5 per week beginning from next March onwards.
The increase in payments will apply to pensioners, jobseekers, carers and those who are receiving disability allowances.
On top of the increased weekly payment, the Finance Minister also confirmed that the 100% Christmas bonus will be paid out to all social welfare recipients this year.
The bonus which is normally handed out every December, will be increased by 15% from last year as recipients were given an 85% bonus payment in 2017.
