Irish drug awareness groups have pleaded with young people to not take ecstasy after a 22-yr-old woman suffered an adverse reaction to an ecstasy tablet she took at a club in Crewe, Cheshire on Saturday night.
She was taken unconscious to Leighton Hospital in the town where she later died.
Police were called to the hospital at 2am and an investigation is under way.
Cheshire Police have said they believe the woman took MDMA, also known as Ecstasy.
Detective Chief Superintendent Serena Kennedy, from Cheshire Constabulary said:
“Sadly, it is unlikely that the victim was the only person to have bought and taken drugs at this location last night.
We would urge anybody who may have taken the drug to seek urgent medical attention.
This is a tragic situation and my thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim”, she concluded.
