A major manhunt is underway after a northern car managed to escape gardai during a high speed car chase in Cork city yesterday evening.
The manhunt started around 5pm when gardai saw a Northern Irish-registered black Subaru estate vehicle on the Lower Glanmire Road speeding through traffic.
What followed was a high-speed chase through country roads close to and into parts of the city. The vehicle had been reported after a spate of burglaries in Cork city and county in the last 3 weeks.
Superintendent Mick Finn appealed for any witnesses to come forward with information by contacting Anglesea Street Garda station on 021-4522000.
