A migrant has been arrested ‘trying to smuggle €455,000 of cocaine into Ireland’

When a Brazilian man was caught attempting to smuggle cocaine worth about €500,000 into Ireland, he may spend up to 15 years in prison, reports The Mirror.

According to information obtained by The Irish Mirror, the boy was detained on Saturday afternoon at Rio De Janeiro’s major Galeao airport in Brazil, just before he was set to take a flight to Europe.

The 18-year-old was scheduled to go to Dublin via Frankfurt, Germany, according to Brazilian Federal Police Officers, who were coordinating with the Air Force to conduct a security operation at the airport.

However, the police airport screening operation revealed narcotics in his suitcase, and upon searching it, the authorities discovered 6.5 kg of suspected cocaine, valued at an impressive €455,000, reports The Mirror.
