For the first time in 256 years, the black stuff will be both vegetarian and vegan friendly. Guinness, the iconic stout is a firm favourite and the most famous beer in Ireland. However not everyone had before been able to experience the taste of the alcoholic beverage.

Strict vegetarians and vegans could not drink Guinness because of the use of isinglass in the brewing process. Isinglass is a product that’s made from dried fish bladders and has always been essential to the removal of excess yeast from Guinness.

As their spokesman said, “Whilst isinglass is a very effective means of clarification, and has been used for many years, we expect to stop using it as the new filtration asset is introduced.”

The new vegan friendly Guinness will be available next year and will taste the same as before thanks because the discovery of synthetic products which will replace isinglass.
