There’s been absolute uproar on social media over the past 24 hours after it emerged that three young men were brutally and horrifically attacked with acid in an unprovoked incident in Waterford.

The three innocent teenagers have all been left with severe injuries after a gang threw acid at and over them.

The attack, which is believed to the first of its kind on teenagers in Ireland, left the three 17 yr-olds in need of skin grafts and one facing the possibility of losing his eyesight.

The teens were attacked in a case of mistaken identity by another group of youths in Waterford City and were rushed to University Hospital Waterford on Monday night.

One of the boys, who was struck in the face with the acid, Teya Agberhiere, has had played football for Ireland under 16’s and has had trials with Tottenham and Crystal Palace.
His mother spoke to Waterford’s WLR FM’s Damien Tiernan who posted the above horrific image of the poor chap recovering in hospital.

One of the other injured boys Padraig Sullivan was also an accomplished sportsman having played hurling for his county and doctors have warned that the muscle damage to his legs may mean the
end of his hurling career.

The boys now have to wait until the acid is removed from their skin before they can then undergo skin grafts.
