In an absolutely ludicrous announcement today, Alan Shatter has been offered €70,000 goodbye pay for resigning 10 days ago as Minister for Justice.
The disgusting story is still up in the air as Shatter himself hasn’t declared whether he’ll take the payment of wave it. Going by past events where Shatter was sheltered by Enda Kenny to the last hour, it’ll be very unsurprising if the enormous payment ends up in Shatter’s bank account.
He may well be legally entitled to get the payment, but what message does this send out to all the decent OAP’s who’ve lost their medical card, or all the genuinely sick children whose parents have to fight to get them a medical card. Absolutely disgraceful,
