Accused attacker in savage Cork teenager stabbing attack is out on bail and back in court on July 10th

It’s been one of the most talked about attacks in recent years and has gotten the entire country talking.

A teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, who was captured on video beating and then stabbing a defenceless boy multiple times in the back as he lay on the ground on Saturday night in Carrigaline, Co Cork has been charged with assault and robbery.

The 17-yr old is now facing these lesser charges rather than attempted murder as many who saw the disturbing footage claim he is guilty of.

Appearing before Cork District Court on Monday from the Bridewell Garda Station in Cork city, the accused was charged with assault for beating and stabbing the teen numerous times and robbery, having also stolen the boy’s mobile phone.

According to RTE, Detective Garda Declan Healy gave evidence, telling the court of formally arresting, charging and cautioning the teenager at the Bridewell Garda station at 11.42pm on Sunday night.

The country was left reeling with shock and disgust on Sunday morning as people woke up to the viral video of the assault which saw numerous onlookers and a narrator with a bizarre London accent screeching and shouting in the background, “look at all the blood, fam”.

Despite the savagery of the assault, the accused was granted bail Judge Kelleher under a number of conditions including remaining off social media, refraining from contacting three named friends the victim or any witnesses involved and signing on in his local Garda station three times a week.

The accused will appear back in court on July 10th.
