The HSE is now said to be extremely concerned over the possibility of further clusters breaking out across Ireland after a number of clusters were found in counties Kildare, Laois and Offaly.
The acting Chief Medical Officer said that there has been and will be enormous numbers of testing in counties where clusters have taken hold over the past number of days.
The acting CMO said that it would be so much more difficult to control had the government not shut down the three counties of Kildare, Laois and Offaly.
Speaking on RTE News, Dr Glynn said that the HSE expected to see a number of clusters but said that the clusters in those three counties had been significantly high.
He urged people in the three counties, in particular the elderly, to be extra vigilant for the two week lockdown restrictions.
He urged the entire country to keep washing their hands and social distancing:
“Please everyone across Ireland be cautious over the coming weeks”
He said that it’s down to each and every one of us to get this situation under control over the next two weeks.
