Aer Lingus industrial action is still going ahead as planned – IALPA

According to the Irish Airline Pilots Association (IALPA), industrial action at Aer Lingus is now scheduled to begin today, reports RTE.

Members of IALPA are planning an eight-hour walkout for Saturday in addition to an indefinite work-to-rule that will start at midnight.

The union is trying to settle the continuing salary issue by attending a hearing at the Labour Court today, reports RTE.

The management of Aer Lingus was present at a separate Labour Court meeting earlier.

IALPA President Captain Mark Tighe declared while arriving at the court that they would hear the Labour Court’s perspective.

He stated that the union cannot cancel the scheduled industrial action without an agreed-upon settlement.

“We’ve had 22 months of talks through various processes and at this point in time the industrial action, as voted for by pilots, will continue until an agreement is made,” Captain Tighe said, reports RTE.
