Aeromexico Dreamliner forced to divert to Shannon after fire alarm is triggered onboard

A Paris-bound Dreamliner aircraft operated by Aeromexico was forced to divert to Shannon Airport earlier today after a fire alarm went off in the plane’s cargo hold.

The crew declared an emergency and landed safely at Shannon airport just before 3pm. Firefighting vehicles and other emergency crews were on standby while the passengers disembarked.

The aircraft remains at Shannon airport while the situation is being assessed.

The Dreamliner passenger jet has been blighted with electrical problems for some time. After five incidents involving the aircraft’s electrical system, the fleet was temporarily grounded while a design review was carried out.
