ALERT: Gardai issue warning to young people going to Electric Picnic not to take drugs

Gardai have issued a stern warning to those attending Electric Picnic, in particular young people.

The warning given is for those in attendance to not buy, sell and most importantly take any drugs of any kind.

Over the years, many believe that the festival has become drug-ridden with some young people hospitalised from drug use at the festival.

Gardai say that ecstasy, cocaine and LSD have all been confiscated at the festival previously and that many people have been brought to hospital due to severe adverse reactions to these drugs, in particular to ecstasy.

They have warned teenagers and young people in their 20s who are attending the festival NOT to participate in drug use, to keep an eye on their friends and be very careful that no one puts anything into their drinks.

They have advised parents to share this information with their children and for people to share this information with their friends.
