Met Éireann have issued a red status warning for Galway and Clare.
The warning comes as gusts from Storm Jorge reaching 145km/h are set to batter the west coast
Met Éireann say the warning is valid from 1pm until 4pm on Saturday.
Meanwhile a status Orange alert has been issued for the rest of the country with strong winds and localised flooding expected overnight.
