According to an internal letter seen by Reuters, Accenture has abandoned its worldwide diversity and inclusion objectives following an assessment of the shifting political climate in the US, reports RTE.
According to CEO Julie Sweet’s message, the business will begin “sunsetting” the diversity objectives it established in 2017 and implementing career development programs for “people of specific demographic groups.”
The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) objectives of several large tech companies, including Amazon, Alphabet, and Meta, were discarded before and following Republican Donald Trump’s reelection to the US presidency, reports RTE.
The “evaluation of our internal policies and practices and the evolving landscape in the United States, including recent executive orders with which we must comply” led to Accenture’s policy modification, according to Sweet.
Trump has signed many executive orders since assuming office on January 20th with the goal of eliminating DEI initiatives in both the public and commercial sectors, reports RTE.
According to the message, Accenture would stop sending data to external diversity benchmarking surveys and rescind its DEI objectives, which Sweet stated would no longer be used to gauge employee success.
In the message, Sweet stated that it will also assess outside collaborations on the subject “as part of refreshing our talent strategy.”
According to Accenture’s most recent annual report, women presently comprise 48% of the company’s workforce and 30% of managing director positions, in keeping with targets established in 2017 and 2020, reports RTE.
