Almost 90% of Irish GPs haven’t signed up to offer abortion services

Pro-abortion advocates in Ireland are dismayed at the news that almost 90% of General Practitioners
in the country are refusing to offer services which involve taking the life of an unborn child.

Meanwhile, in the counties of Sligo and Carlow, not a single GP is willing to the life ending service.

HSE figures show that so far only 337 GPs have signed up to provide abortion services, a figure that
represents just about 13% of GP’s nationwide.

Of the 337 GPs who offer services to end the life of an unborn baby only 188 were willing to have
their details made public.

Many doctors around the world have long expressed reservations about performing abortions both for religious and personal, moral reasons as well as the fact that it violates the first stipulation of the
Hippocratic oath, which is to do no harm.
