Stargazers had a treat last night, as one of the largest meteor showers of the year, the Perseids, engulfed the Irish sky.
The Perseids were visible in all parts of the sky from midnight until around 4am.
The Perseid event occurs every July and August as the Earth passes debris from the comet Swift-Tuttle, and it takes its name as the point where the shooting stars appear to originate (their radiant) is located in the Perseus constellation.
It’s said to be happening over the next two nights also so have a look and enjoy!
