Amazon has confirmed that it will not produce a TV series based on Stephen King’s Dark Tower series, after a pilot reportedly failed to impress executives.
The Dark Tower has had a troubled relationship with both big and small screens. A 2017 adaptation featuring Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey failed spectacularly, and while a TV series has been discussed on and off for years, it has yet to materialize.
The Dark Tower tells the story of Roland Deschain’s relentless quest for the tower that stands at the center of all creation. The tale was partly inspired by Robert Browning’s poem Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came.
