HSE states that there are no confirmed cases of coronavirus in Ireland

The HSE has confirmed that there are no confirmed cases of coronavirus in Ireland.

The announcement comes after reports of a patient attending the Mater Hospital in Dublin who had just returned from China and was showing symptoms of the disease, prompting a ‘decontamination exercise’ at the facility. It remains unclear whether or not this actually happened.

Nevertheless, the coronavirus outbreak is real, and has so far claimed no fewer than 500 infections and 17 known deaths.

The virus has been detected in Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and the USA. All those affected had recently travelled to China.
