An Post launches new address service to help the country’s homeless




An Post have confirmed that their new personal address for homeless people is now in operation.

The Address Point, service which has been described as one of the first in Europe will allow those without a permanent address to access a range of public services through the post office.

An Post say the service which has been in development for a number of months and it will be free of charge.

They also say the system was developed with the assistance of homeless advocacy groups, with the main goal being that a service was provided that is free of stigma.

It is understood the new service will be available in over 200 Post offices nationwide and will allow those who are homeless and living in emergency accommodation to provide a recognised and secure address whilst submitting job applications, school enrolments, or opening a bank account.
