Anger in Limerick as racecourse vaccination centre closes for 5 days for race meeting to take place

There’s anger amongst locals in County Limerick this weekend after it’s been confirmed that the covid vaccination centre in Limerick racecourse is to close for 5 days due to race meetings.

There’s been a major surge in Limerick with close to 1,000 Covid cases being identified in the past 14 days alone.

The HSE vaccination centre based at Limerick racecourse, located in Patrickswell, closes today for a race meeting, a spokesman for the UL Hospitals Group confirmed.

The vaccination centre closes to allow racing meetings on June 18th, July 4th, July 10th and July 22nd, he added.

Locals say that they’re not happy with this decision considering how close Limerick came just last week to a local lockdown. Nevertheless, the race meeting is going ahead.
