The magic pot’o’gold that bondholders found in Ireland keeps spewing out our money year after year.
Minister for Finance Michael Noonan is today facing yet more criticism after he has admitted that junior Anglo bondholders may be handed a €280m payout out of public money.
This is going on while homeless people die on the country streets, cold, and alone, and families nationwide face eviction.
Mr. Noonan has been rightly accused of a u-turn after the revelation. He had previously maintained that such payments were “unlikely”.
And to add insult to injury, the payout will take place just as the first water bills begin flowing through letterboxes across the country.
One can safely say that there will be no u-turn for this Government’s road to political oblivion.
