People want to know whether the Ukrainians coming into the country are being properly vetted, or even vetted at all before they’re giving free medical cards and social media.
The government have failed to find homes for thousands of Irish people while tens of thousands more Irish young people are forced to rent or live with parents yet suddenly it is no issue to take in 200,000 Ukrainian refugees.
Ireland is set to receive the equivalent of 5% of its population in refugees from Ukraine, with questions raised over background checks and criminal history checks.
One social media quipped:
“This is just months after the country was shocked and horrified by the murder of Aisling Murphy in Tullamore, the chief suspect happens to be a foreign national from Eastern Europe.”
While the Irish sympathise with and desire to help Ukrainians fleeing the conflict in their country the utter abandonment of all reason and logic in opening our boarders without any reservation.
With the ongoing housing crisis, the growing number Covid cases, a large number of Ukrainians reportedly being unvaxxed, and potential for energy and many even food rationing is why are the government hell bent on this course of action without so much as a thought for the Irish people?
