Anti-Eviction activist Ben Gilroy has finally been released from prison

Anti-Eviction and political activist Ben Gilroy has finally been released from prison after been given a 3-month jail term in Mountjoy earlier this year.

He was found to be in “contempt of court” in relation to a community service penalty. Mr Gilroy’s wife Sarah Jane was interviewed a number of times by investigative journalist Gemma O’Doherty outside the Bridewell garda station where Ben had been processed and outside Mountjoy prison where Ben spent his first night.

On the Facebook page “Tiger Reborn”, Gemma O’Doherty stood with Ben Gilroy’s wife and held a protest outside Mountjoy prison last night and will do so again today at 2pm, asking the public to join them in support of Ben.

Ben Gilroy has thankfully been released from prison today, looking a little different with a tighter haircut and a beard but in good spirits.
