Aodhan O Riordain labels Tanaiste as the ‘Minister for beer gardens’ whilst calling for an end to lockdowns

Labour party TD Aodhan O Riordain has labelled the Tanaiste as the ‘Minister for beer gardens’ in a stark response to the Fine Gael TD’s comments on the reopening of society.

Speaking in the Dail, O Riordain called for the end of yo yo lockdowns and reiterated his stance that Ireland should be aiming for a zero covid strategy.

The Labour TD also said that the Tanaiste’s was furthering his own personal agenda with his recent comments and that he is only making things worse.

O Riordain told the Dail, that the Tanaiste was talking about the reopening of society and gatherings whilst not recognising the fact that we are in the teeth of a body count.

He also said that there was no point in giving people hope about the possibility of beer gardens and family gatherings if we are only going to end up back in lockdown in May.

He added that Ireland should become an European leader in suppressing the virus and therefore put an end to yo yo lockdowns.
