A large number of disgruntled workers at Wistron’s Indian factory, a company that mainly makes iPhones in India, smashed the factory’s offices and caused extensive property damage.

Thousands of iPhones were also stolen in riots, resulting in a total loss of $59 million, The Times of India reports. The figure is based on a preliminary financial assessment with a final figure to be communicated after a full evaluation of the total losses is carried out.

The losses were mainly caused by the theft of thousands of iPhones, The Times of India reports.

The disgruntled employees said they received insufficient wages from Wistron. An enraged mob unleashed violence in their offices, smashing glass, destroying cameras and setting vehicles on fire before stealing the brand new iPhones.
