Apple to pay $113m settlement after admitting slowing down older phones

Apple have agreed to settle a lawsuit following claims that the tech giant deliberately slowed down older devices.

In a case brought in Arizona the US company agreed to pay $113m after it was alleged that they deliberately slowed down older devices with a software update back in 2017.

Although Apple maintained that the update was introduced to preserve battery life, it was argued that the company made the update in order for users to upgrade their phones to the latest model.

The latest agreement comes after the tech giant previously agreed to pay $500m to settle a class action lawsuit which was brought before the courts in California.
