As another strike day draws to a close, 37,000 nurses feel their action is working

The nurses and midwives around the country feel that their strike action is now definitely making a difference and that they will eventually get better working conditions and restored pay.

37,000 nurses and midwives were on strike around the country again today for their third day of strike action.

The Minister for Health Simon Harris and the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar failed to help them reach their demands to restore their pay and see much better working conditions.

Nurses and midwives around the country have been working in terrible conditions, understaffed, underpaid, and working every hour of the day just try and keep their wards above board.

The government appear to not care less at the demands that the nurses have put before them and said that they won’t treat nurses any different to how they treat secondary school teachers.

Last week when the nurses went on strike, the government said that they were considering imposing financial claims against the nurses who went on strike saying that they breached the pay agreement.

With little option other than going on strike again the nurses have taken to the picket line in the freezing cold morning weather and will be walking outside the hospital instead of working inside of it.
