Mary Lou McDonald tries to defend Sinn Féin’s ridiculous stance on ‘open borders’

Mary Lou McDonald, the head of Sinn Féin, has defended the language of her party on “open borders,” stating that this has always been her stance on immigration, reports Breaking News.

Regarding migration, Ms. McDonald asserted that there has been “a lot of misinformation” and charged that the government is “scrambling” to address the problem.

“Sinn Féin is not in favour of open borders; rather, we support an efficient, human rights-abiding, and just system,” she said on Sunday, reports Breaking News.

When it was brought up to Ms. McDonald that borders are closed in Ireland.

Ms McDonald said: “I have used that term for clarification purposes, and I’ve been using that language and making that point as far back as 2007,” reports Breaking News.

She cited a 2007 Irish Times article in which Ms. McDonald, a Dublin MEP at the time, stated that Sinn Féin opposed “open door” or “open border” immigration policies, reports Breaking News.
