As rioters continue to loot, burn and kill in cities across the United States President Trump has pledged to protect the American people and deploy active service military to the streets should mayors and governors fail to bring the situation under control.
Speaking in the White House’s Rose Garden on Monday evening, the American President called for justice in the case of the death of convicted home invader George Floyd but warned that the violent riots raging in his country’s cities would be dealt with one way or another.
“Mayors and governors must establish an overwhelming law enforcement presence until the violence has been quelled,” Trump said.
“If a city or state refuses to take the actions that are necessary to defend the life and property of their residents, then I will deploy the United State military and quickly solve the problem for them.”
Riots have now led to a number of deaths and the destruction of countless businesses across the nation as looting and anarchy is has been allowed to take hold in mostly Democrat run cities.
President Trump noted the murder of an African American federal officer as well as footage that has emerged of white civilians being beaten to death on the street by rioters.
Rioters have also vandalised and desecrated some of the United States most revered monuments, including the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument as well as the World War Two memorial in Washington DC and St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City.
