There was some more good news in the race to find a Covid-19 vaccine as AstraZeneca and Oxford University say there vaccine is showing a strong immune response in the elderly.
According to a report in The Lancet Medical journal the vaccine candidate has shown encouraging results in people over the age of 70.
The report states that the vaccine has shown to provide a good antibody and T-cell response in older people and it is believed that the vaccine could provide much needed protection for those most at risk of catching the virus.
Although no official data has been published it is expected that researchers will publish data in the coming weeks about the vaccine’s effectiveness.
It is understood that researchers will now examine whether or not the vaccine provides protection to a broad range of people and in particular those with underlying medical conditions.
