AstraZeneca changes the name of its controversial vaccine




The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has just approved a name change for the AstraZeneca vaccine.

The new name was approved for use late last week following a request from the company, reports FastCompany.

The Anglo -Swedish pharmaceutical AstraZeneca announced that the COVID-19 vaccine in conjunction with the British University of Oxford has been renamed Vaxzevria .

Vaxzevria is currently suspended in a number of countries and has restricted use in others. It is currently used in Ireland without any restrictions or suspensions.
