Autumnal weather – Met Eireann warns of big change coming our way

Ireland can expect severe weather this week as the country’s mild temperatures enjoy a brief, cool breeze.

Met Eireann warned it would turn “fresh and little cooler”, with daytime temperatures forecast to hover around the mid-teens.

It follows a warm start to the week, with the thermometer reaching a high of 23 degrees Celsius on Monday. However, from tomorrow, the mercury will barely cross 15 degrees Celsius during the day and stay in the single digits at night, reports The Mirror.

Rain threatens for the rest of the week, with heavy downpours likely to drench the country.

Today, there will be drizzle in the south and east, while the rest of the country will have a spell of rain and sunshine.

The national forecaster said: “Rain and drizzle in the south and east today, scattered showers and sunny spells elsewhere. Highest temperatures of 16C to 20C in a light to moderate south to southwest wind. Scattered showers early tonight then mainly dry with clear spells overnight. Lowest temperatures of 7C to 12C with light to moderate south to southwest winds at first, becoming calm later,” reports The Mirror.

This weekend will see rain and drizzle moving eastwards on Saturday night and Sunday. Met Eireann said: “A mix of sunny spells and scattered showers Friday, with some heavy ones possible in the afternoon and evening. Highest temperatures of 15C to 18C with mostly light to moderate west to northwest winds, increasing fresh later in the west and northwest. Becoming mainly dry on Friday night, with some showers continuing in the north and west. Lowest temperatures of 9C to 12C in a light to moderate northwesterly wind,” reports The Mirror.

“Saturday morning will be generally dry with sunny spells although there will be some showers in the north and west. The showers will move southeastwards across the country during the afternoon and evening. Highest temperatures of 15C to 19C in a light to moderate northwesterly wind generally, fresh at times near coasts,” reports The Mirror.
