Survey reveals the true extent of the sorry state of our roads

Despite road tax, tolls, and a raft of other charges, a large portion of Irish roads are in a dilapidated state as of today.

A survey has just revealed that almost a third of minor roads across the country have some sort of structural damage in the form of cracks, deep potholes, or are simply crumbling away due to lack of maintenance.

The survey has revealed that a mere 24% of national roads could be described as “top condition”, while most were deemed to be virtually undriveable.

The data collated reveals that Offaly is the worst off county in terms of road conditions, scoring 36.4% of “structurally deficient” roads.

Dublin meanwhile tops the list of “top condition” roads, with 30.6%.
