Backing down: Luas drivers trade union calls off planned strike for the next two days

It looks like the Luas drivers trade union SIPTU are backing down as they call off the strike that was planned for the next two days.

They’ll now go back to talks with Luas operator Transdev in an effort to broker a deal that will see the public not having to worry about whether the Luas will be running or not.

There was particular concern students preparing for their Leaving Cert would be left stranded from the strike.

The Luas drivers as looking for an increase from €36,000 to €42,000 per annum with free GP care and holiday benefits.
