Be very careful out there: Motorists advised to drive with extreme caution black ice and snow is widespread




Motorists have been advised to drive with extreme caution this morning as a snow fell in many places last night while others are left with severe frost and icy conditions.

Met Eireann say snow is now likely for most of the country as temperatures drop to -3c tonight.

The national forecaster has advised that snow fell in many places last night with the AA advising people drive slower than usual after temperatures dropped to -3c overnight with more snow expected to come in from the West tonight.

The inclement weather is expected to bring snow from the West, especially on high lying land in Connacht and Ulster areas.

This week will be considerably colder than last week with daytime temperatures only rising to around 6c with nighttime temperatures going before to -3c.

Snow is most likely in the South, West and North of the country.
