Beer Diet! New research claims that drinking a few beers can help you lose weight




We all love a nice a pint of beer to celebrate the end of the week, but sometimes we wonder what damage is the alcohol doing to our health well it may not be doing as much damage as you think. In fact a few scoops could help you shed the pounds.

According to researchers at Oregon State University a key ingredient in an average pint can lower cholesterol. Scientists say xanthohumol, a substance found in wheat and hops, actually significantly lowered the levels cholesterol in rats and mice.

Although no trials have been conducted on humans scientists remain optimistic due to the latest studies findings. The research which saw forty-eight male mice being fed a high-fat diet and split into two groups, with one group being administered 60 milligrams a day for 12 weeks whilst the other went xanthohumol-free. The results found the that majority of the mice had their cholesterol levels cut by a massive 80%, whilst their insulin levels were cut by 42%.

Interesting results indeed! Maybe having a few drinks at the weekend can be beneficial after all. Happy days!
