Beer kegs stolen from pub in Navan, minutes after they were delivered and while the owner was at the funeral of a family member

A pub near Navan was robbed and seven kegs of beer stolen just minutes after they were delivered.

According to the Irish Mirror, the Kilberry Pub and Kitchen has only recently been able to reopen fully after spending long periods of time closed due to lockdown. When the kegs were delivered, the manager of the pub, Grainne Smyth was at a funeral of one of the owner’s family members and for that reason it is felt that the robbery was particularly unfair.

It is thought that this is the third premises in the area that thieves have targeted over the past few weeks, and that it is getting more likely that robberies will take place due to the fact that more kegs are being delivered as pubs reopen.

The seven kegs that were lifted are estimated to be worth in the region of €1300. A warning has been sent out to other publicans to watch out for thieves and Gardai have asked for assistance from any member of the public who might be able to help find those responsible.
