A total of almost $400,000 has been donated to a fund whose goal is to provide financial assistance to the families of the students killed or injured in the recent Berkeley tragedy.
The Irish J1 Berkeley Tragedy Fund was set up by the Irish Immigration Pastoral Centre in San Francisco after the tragic event that saw six Irish students killed on June 16.
The American Ireland Fund contributed with $100,000 for “urgent funds” shortly after the names of those killed were released.
It is understood that a fundraising concert will be organized to raise further money for the survivors of the Berkeley tragedy.
