According to Bertie Ahern, one of the main concerns in the next general election would be immigration, reports Breaking News.
The ex-Taoiseach talked on the problem of population increase in recent years on the ‘The Stand’ podcast with Eamon Dunphy.
When he was in politics, the main problem, according to the former Fianna Fáil leader, was people leaving the nation; today, the contrary is true.
“Emigration used to be our main worry during general elections, Eamon. The number of young people who had no choice but to leave the employment market and now the influx of newcomers,” he remarked, reports Breaking News.
“Now many of them have talents, many of them want to work, but it is making life more difficult for rentals,” reports Breaking News.
